Accomplishments
As a City Councilmember, I work to keep Garden Ridge fiscally responsible, efficient, and community-focused. Since 2021, I’ve voted to lower taxes, improved water operations, enhanced safety, and led zoning reforms while preserving the city’s rural character. My roles on the Planning & Zoning Commission, Water Commission, and the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization help me advocate for policies that benefit residents and the region.
City Councilmember, Place 3 (May 2021 to present)
Water Security
- As the Council Liaison to the Water Department, I provided consultation on water maintenance strategies, repairs to major equipment, and efforts to establish an emergency water connection to ensuring a reliable water supply during emergencies. I have been working with city staff to pursue an agreement with SAWS (San Antonio Water System) for an emergency source of water by connecting to the Vista Ridge Line.
Zoning Ordinance
- Continued working on revisions to Zoning Ordinance 13 with the Planning & Zoning Technical Committee. Initialed the update to the Natural Features Overlay (NFO) District section in Ordinance 13 to preserve the city's rural character and the effort to apply the NFO District to undeveloped properties along FM 2252 and RM 3009.
AAMPO / TxDOT
- Appointed to the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (AAMPO) Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) to represent the Northeast Partnership (consisting of 13 area cities). Requested a traffic demand study of FM 3009 with the two new developments off Bat Cave Rd north of Garden Ridge which lead to TxDOT adding a project to the forecast to expand FM 3009 from FM 2252 to Bat Cave Rd.
Ethics Ordinance
- Leading the revisions to the Code of Ethics Ordinance 232, ensuring compliance with Home Rule City status.
Waste Management Savings
- Researching ways to reduce trash collection and brush/ bulk dumpster fees.
Resident Advocacy
- Voted on rezoning requests, master development plans, and special use permits, prioritizing resident input in decisions.
City Commissions (Sept 2018 to April 2021)
Planning and Zoning
- Co-authored a comprehensive rewrite of the city’s zoning regulations (Ordinance 13) as recommended by the Master Land Use Plan.
Water Commissions
- As the chair of the commission led the successful transition from an outdated Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) system to an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system, saving $300,000 in maintenance costs. The AMI system has made a significant improvement in reducing water loss.
- Made recommendations to City Council to water loss adjustments and other variance request.
